1.
Homeowners Tax Credit
(it's not only for first time homebuyers)
The extension of the first-time home buyer tax
credit will help continue to clear out inventory,
but expanding the credit to include more buyers may
not be as helpful in high-cost housing areas.
President Barack Obama recently signed legislation
that extends the deadline on the first-time home
buyer tax credit and adds a smaller tax credit for
move-up and other home buyers. The extension and
expansion gives home buyers a tax incentive to buy a
home until at least April 30, 2010 (April 30, 2011
for qualifying military personnel.) The previous
deadline was just weeks ago, November 30, 2009.

First-time homeowners who bought a house in
2009 get a tax credit of up to $8,000. Other people
(not first-timers) who buy a house on or after
November 7, 2009 also get a credit, worth $6,500.
The best part is that you don't have to wait until
next year to file for the refund. A special
provision allows you to amend your 2008 tax return
(even if you bought the house in 2009) and get your
check in a couple weeks. Already Have A Home but
can't afford the payments? Even if you are behind on
your payments, you may be able to modify your loan
terms to an affordable payment.

2. Delinquent
Credit Card and Medical Bills
More and more people can't keep up with all their
credit card and medical bills. With all the changes
in Obama's New Credit Card Law, you should know your
rights, what you have to pay back and what you don't
have to pay back. You may find you can get up to 60%
of your balances wiped away through negotiation with
your creditors.

3. Tuition Tax Credits
The newly expanded American Opportunity
tax credit provides $2,500 per student to offset
tuition and other qualified costs during the first
four years of college. You or your kids not going to
school? President Obama asked all Americans earlier
this year to commit to at least 1 year of higher
education or career training so that they can get
the jobs available in this recession.

4. Just Married,
New Children Credits
If you got
married, had a baby or adopted a child in 2009,
you're entitled to a personal exemption worth $3,650
for each member of your new expanded family. If you
have a family, it's more important than ever to have
health insurance for all members.

will cover you, and your entire family in 2010
5. Tax Credit If
You Bought A Car In 2009
If you
bought a new car between February 17 and December
31, 2009, you may be able to deduct the state and
local sales tax you paid on any vehicle costing up
to $49,500, whether you itemize your deductions or
not. This program is separate from the Cash For
Clunkers program.

31,2009 to qualify?
6. Help If You Owe Back Taxes
Owing back taxes (State or Federal)
This can be one of the most stressful situations
in life. You never know when the government is going
to garnish your wages or seize your bank account or
property. The worst thing to do is bury your head in
the sand when there are solutions that might even
let you pay the government back a fraction of what
you actually owe.br>SSee
